TRULLI HOUSES IN ALBEROBELLO
Guided walking tour of the Trulli of Alberobello
The Trulli of Alberobello, a guided walking tour to discover the picturesque dwellings that characterize the heart of the Apulian countryside.
Alberobello, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996, the capital of the Trulli, a town with authentic traditions, the most interesting and typical walk you can do in Apulia.
If we were to count how many guided tours we have done so far, Alberobello and its Trulli would have the highest number.
Born from a peasant idea around 1600, thanks to the skills and ingenuity of the inhabitants themselves, in need of a home, they were built with dry stone, without mortar, one stone on the top of another, truly ingenious.
As well as explaining the construction, we will show you them
Over the centuries they have become mansions, much larger with all the comforts, but the stone and conical shape are still there and since the UNESCO declaration it has been no longer possible to remove the older ones.
Today it is defined as spontaneous, beautiful and characteristic architecture, representing the peasant civilization in the heart of the Apulian countryside. The area around Alberobello is called Trulli’s Valley, because of the trullo houses scattered in the countryside and in the towns.
During the walk among the Trulli of Alberobello, we will see how a trullo house was built
