TROJA guided walking tour church + sweet pastry tasting
On the foothills of the Dauno Apennines, lies Troja, a town just 22 km / 13 miles from Foggia, with very ancient origins.
Troja is one of the most authentic villages and has been awarded the Orange Flag by the Italian Touring Club. Refined historic centre represented by the Cathedral dedicated to Santa Maria dell ‘Assunta, which has as its symbol, the rose window, a jewel of Apulian Romanesque art, dating back to 1200, the most beautiful, finely sculpted. It’s one of the most common pictures of Puglia, but seeing it live and trying to get the right perspective is something else entirely.
The guided tour is a walk through the village, with a historical introduction of the city of Troia, showing some glimpses of the alleys, the Cathedral and its magnificent rose window. After that, the guide will show you the church of S. Basilio, one of the oldest in Apulia.
For this sweet experience, we will stop at a pastry shop a few steps away from the fantastic rose window to taste the “Passionata”, a typical cake born of a passion for local products and the noble art of pastry-making. You’ll love it!
