ALTAMURA: guided walking tour
Cathedral portal + museum + bread tasting
Altamura, a city to discover, rich in history and traditions
Thanks to the exceptional geological and archaeological discovery of the skeleton of a Neanderthal man, Altamura has become one of the most important cities to visit in Puglia
Guided walking tour through the historic centre of Altamura, to see the portal of the Cathedral, the most beautiful in Apulia, a visit to the archaeological museum to experience the story of that old skeleton and the time in which he lived.
Continuing on foot with our guide, we will stop at a bakery.
Yes, in the alleys of Altamura’s historic centre there are ovens, made of stone,
where bread is baked in a wood-burning oven, every morning as in the past.
With a well-cooked crust and a light-yellow crumb, it’s a delicacy.
Famous in Italy for its bread, which has become a brand, with the name “Pane di Altamura”.
Always present at the table for a “bruschetta”, hard bread with extra-virgin oil, garlic and oregano
It’s wonderful to see the baking!!!
An experience that embraces all the senses
